Save Energy Minnesota helps Minnesota residents make their homes more energy‑efficient. The program uses state and federal rebates to lower the cost of home upgrades.
We work with contractors across the state to install equipment and complete projects. Your skills help families save money and use less energy.
Why Join the Program
When you become a Save Energy Minnesota approved contractor, you can:
- Receive more customer leads
- Offer instant rebates that lower the price for your customers
- Make upgrades more affordable for low‑ and moderate‑income households
- Combine multiple incentives to help customers save more
- Get paid within 30 days after all documents and quality checks are complete
Note: Save Energy Minnesota program verifies customers’ eligibility and income level.
How the Program Works
Here’s what you can expect as a Save Energy Minnesota approved contractor:
- Apply online through the Save Energy Minnesota program portal. Once approved, you’ll be included on the Find-A-Contractor tool.
- Upload your project documents, including estimates, invoices, and quality‑assurance items.
- Customers receive instant rebates. They pay you the project cost minus the rebate amount.
- Receive reimbursement after all documents are approved and necessary inspections are completed.
What You Need to Apply
All Save Energy Minnesota approved contractors must meet basic state requirements. Here’s what you will need:
- Proof of business insurance (including current general liability or equivalent coverage)
- Proof of state license from DLI registration
- Registered "Doing Business As" name, if applicable
- Proof of State of Minnesota SWIFT registration for payment
- Proof of training completion and/or current standing with accepted programs, as applicable
- Completion of Save Energy Minnesota training completion (onboarding training will be available later)
