About the Executive Council
- The Executive Council meets upon the call of the governor or the call of the executive secretary when a meeting is requested by three or more council members (Minnesota Statutes, Chapter 9.021).
- Designate banks, trust companies, or credit unions within the state as depositories to receive state funds (Minnesota Statutes, Chapter 9.031).
- Consider and propose to the legislature terms of settlement for all claims and controversies between the State of Minnesota and the United States over lands granted to the state by the United State Congress (Minnesota Statutes, Chapter 9.041).
- Respond to emergencies and disasters in the following ways (Minnesota Statutes, Chapter 9.061):
- Take necessary measures to prevent an impending disaster that threatens to destroy life or property;
- Grant relief to communities stricken by disease, fire, action of the elements, or extreme economic distress;
- Prevent the occurrence or spread of any disaster;
- Grant relief to individuals or families adversely affected by a major disaster, in alignment with federal disaster relief laws and regulations; and
- Repair state property damaged by a major disaster, in alignment with federal disaster relief laws and regulations.
