The Department of Commerce is dedicated to providing the highest possible level of service to Minnesota licensees, regulated entities and consumers during the ongoing COVID-19 crisis. Commerce is implementing its plan to mitigate the spread of COVID-19 by implementing social distancing techniques for Department staff. Insurance and real estate license candidates now have a new option for taking their prelicense exams. The OnVUE system from Pearson VUE allows an eligible candidate to take an insurance or real estate examination remotely without going into a test center if their home or other remote testing location meets certain requirements for exam security and reliable Internet service. Test seekers interested in registering for a remote-proctored exam can sign up in the same way that they would for an in-person exam, by visiting the state testing website. The cost per exam is the same for a remote-proctored exam as it is for an in-person exam. Please note that for technical reasons candidates seeking to take the state and national real estate exams via OnVUE will need to schedule them as separate exams rather than one combined test.
