Minnesota House Updates
On Wednesday, Feb. 26 the House Veterans and Military Affairs Division held a hearing where it heard several bills relating to Veterans and Military Affairs issues:
HF26 (Roach) – Governor's power to declare emergency repealed, legislative emergency declaration and extension process established, governor's authority to adopt orders and expedited rules during an emergency repealed, citizen rights protected, and technical corrections made.
- Laid over as it was a direct referral from State Government Finance Committee
HF648 (Skraba) – Veterans on the Lake grant funding provided, and money appropriated & Veterans on the Lake appropriation request informational hearing.
- Laid over for possible inclusion in Veterans and Military Omnibus
HF532 (Bliss) – Veteran retreats funding provided, and money appropriated.
- Laid over for possible inclusion in Veterans and Military Omnibus
HF492 (Hill) – Currently serving military personnel and Veterans provided funding for mental health services and outdoor activities, and money appropriated.
- Laid over for possible inclusion in Veterans and Military Omnibus
Minnesota Senate Updates
On Monday, Feb. 24, the Subcommittee on Veterans held hearing where it heard several bills relating to Veterans and Military Affairs issues:
S.F. 1706 Kupec Human services data and Veterans data provisions modifications (MDVA Policy Bill)
S.F. 1705 Kupec Veterans burial provisions modifications (MDVA Policy Bill)
S.F. 1704 Putnam State Armory Building Commission maximum bonded indebtedness allowed increase provision (DMA Policy Bill)
All three bills were laid over for possible inclusion in a Veterans and Military Affairs Omnibus Bill.
