We look forward to answering your questions about Resident admissions, requirements and the application process to the Minnesota Veterans Homes.

Admission Requirements

All Residents must require skilled nursing care. Eligible Residents include:

• Veterans discharged under honorable conditions from any branch of the U.S. armed forces and a current resident of Minnesota, who served 181 consecutive days on active duty, unless discharged earlier because of disability incurred in the line of duty. Eligibility will determined in accordance with §38 CFR 3.12a.
• Spouses of eligible Veterans, who must be at least 55 years old and meet residency requirements.
• Veterans or Veteran spouses must meet Minn. Stat. 197.447.

The applicant’s assets, income, and service connection are used to calculate the applicant’s financial obligation in contributing to their cost of care. For questions or more information, contact the Reimbursement Specialist of each Home.

  • Legal documents that reflect a decision maker such as: Power of Attorney for Health Care/Finances; Health Care Directive or Legal Guardianship/Conservatorship
  • Marriage Certificate (only required if applying as a spouse of a Veteran)
• Find your County Veterans Service Officer (CVSO)

The Minnesota Veterans Homes are subject to Minnesota Administrative Rules Chapter 9050.
