Dental benefits are provided to Veterans and their dependents for routine dental, extraction and denture procedures. This benefit is income- and asset-based, and upon MDVA approval of eligibility, you and your dependents may receive up to $1,500 for annual routine dental care paid to your choice of providers.
If your dental provider determines that dentures are necessary, MDVA will issue an additional denture authorization for up to $4,000, and if needed, an extraction authorization for up to $2,500 specifically for tooth extractions in preparation for the dentures. These amounts are lifetime amounts and remaining balances can be used in subsequent years pursuant to MN Administrative Rules 9055.0320.
Dental benefits are open year-round. A recipient is limited to one first-tier dental benefit every 12 months. A previous recipient is eligible for the first-tier dental benefit 12 months after the first date of service paid for by MDVA in the recipient’s previous benefit period in accordance with MN Administrative Rules 9055.0320 Subp. 12 (a)(b).
