Caregiver Support
The Minnesota Veterans Homes are honored to care for our Residents and look forward to caring for those waiting for future care. We recognize the importance of supporting Veterans’ family members and caregivers and want to ensure they have access to programs and reliable information. The Minnesota Veterans Homes developed and compiled the following resources to support caregivers.
Caregiver Support through LinkVet and Lutheran Social Services of Minnesota
The Minnesota Department of Veterans Affairs partners with LinkVet and Lutheran Social Services to provide services and support in the community. If you need services and support, individuals are encouraged to directly contact the organizations.
LinkVet
LinkVet.org or 1-888-LinkVet (546-5838). LinkVet can help Veterans and caregivers find programs or services to meet their needs including:
- Access to food
- Paying bills
- Social isolation
- Case Management
- Referrals for other supports or services through Luthern Social Services
Lutheran Social Services (LSS)
lssmn.org or 1-888-881-8261. LSS provides services including:
- Behavioral health counseling
- Caregiver support
- Respite
- Meals to Go
- LSS also offers the Veterans C.O.R.E. program which can help identify additional services that you may need
Caregiver Support Online Resource
Alzheimer’s Association
alz.org or 800-272-3900. The Alzheimer’s Association provides services including:
- Free Caregiver Consults
- The Alzheimer’s Association’s 24/7 Helpline (800-272-3900) can help find resources on what to expect, finding support, safety in the home, dealing with behaviors, legal planning, planning care costs, educational programs, and caregiver health.
