The House Veterans and Military Affairs committee returned last week with a full agenda after a not meeting the week before. The members heard two bills and four presentations from Veterans groups.
The first bill was HF122 authored by Rep. Heather Edelson of Edina. The bill provides money to Metro Meals on Wheels so Veterans can receive home-delivered meals.
The second bill was HF311 authored by Rep. Dave Lislegard of Aurora. The bill provides funding to Veterans on the Lake in Ely to provide retreats for Veterans.
Both bills were laid over for possible inclusion in a Veterans and Military Affairs omnibus bill.
The four groups to present to the committee included DAV-Minnesota, the American Legion, The Minnesota Association of County Veterans Service Officers and Minnesota Assistance Council for Veterans.
Next week, the committee will hear budget presentations from MDVA and the Department of Military Affairs. Additionally, there will be one bill on the agenda.
On Thursday, the House Judiciary and Civil Law committee heard HF45 authored by Rep. Sandra Feist of New Brighton. A bill that would clean up pre-sentencing guidelines within the previously passed Veterans Restorative Justice Act. The committee approved the bill and sent it to the House floor.
The Senate State and Local Government and Veterans committee did not hear any Veterans bills or presentations this week.
