The Minnesota Legislature is slowly ramping back up and returning to a new normal after a hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the Easter/Passover break.
Physical distancing will still be in place with all committee hearings being held remotely through tele- or video-conferences. Floor sessions are being held with members participating in person (at distances of at least 6-feet apart) or remotely.
During the hiatus, the legislature met a few times to pass legislation related to COVID-19, including an appropriation for grants for Veterans that have been affected by COVID-19. More information regarding these grants can be found here.
The House Veterans and Military Affairs committee is scheduled to resume its work on Tuesday, April 21 with a remote meeting. The committee will hear updates from the Minnesota Departments of Veterans Affairs and Military Affairs about their efforts in fighting COVID-19. The committee will also hear three bills, HFs 4221-4223. Details regarding those bills can be found /mdva/news/legislative-updates/state-bill-tracker/index.jspon the state bill tracker.
More bills and hearings could be added to the legislature’s schedule next week. All hearings will be available to the public and can be accessed through the House or Senate website.
