The second half of the 91st session of the Minnesota Legislature began on Tuesday, Feb. 12 when both the House and the Senate gaveled in around noon.
Both chambers took time to recognize and honor the three members of the Minnesota National Guard who lost their lives in a helicopter crash on Dec. 5. The House also swore in two new members including Rep. Sydney Jordan of Northeast Minneapolis and Rep. Paul Novotny of Elk River.
No Veterans legislation was heard in committee, but several bills were introduced. To see them, check out this week’s updates to /mdva/news/legislative-updates/state-bill-tracker/index.jspthe state bill tracker.
Next week, the House Veterans and Military Affairs committee will meet on Tuesday, Feb. 18 at 2:30 p.m. and hear presentations from the Departments of Military Affairs and Veterans Affairs as well as the Student Veterans Association of Minnesota.
The Senate Veterans and Military Affairs committee will meet on Thursday, Feb. 20 at 8:30 a.m. and will hear a presentation from the Department of Military Affairs. It will not hear Veterans related bills.
