Weekly State Update - Feb. 1, 2019

Andrew Garvais and Brad Linday from MDVA presents to the House Veterans and Military Affairs regarding initiatives to end Veterans homelessness. It was quieter at the Capitol this week due to the dangerously low temperatures and wind chills. The Minnesota Senate cancelled all of its scheduled hearings on Wednesday as well as Thursday morning.

The House Veterans and Military Affairs committee heard presentations from the Minnesota Assistance Council for Veterans (MAC-V) and MDVA regarding initiatives to end Veterans homelessness. Neal Loidolt of MAC-V said that Minnesota is on track to obtaining ‘functional zero’ for homeless numbers by 2020.

A number of Veterans related bills have been introduced at the legislature. Our /mdva/news/legislative-updates/state-bill-tracker/index.jspstate bill tracker lists all of them and their current status. It is updated throughout the week during the legislative session.

Minnesota Veterans Day on the Hill will be on Wednesday, March 20. There will be a rally in the Capitol Rotunda at 1:30 p.m.
