This week was the first full week of committees at the legislature. Committees held informational hearings regarding areas of jurisdiction they oversee. Legislative Director Ben Johnson gave an agency overview to the Veterans committees in the House and Senate.
Next week, MDVA leadership will provide testimony to the House State Government Finance committee regarding this year's budget request. This is scheduled for Thursday, January 19th at 1pm in Room 10 of the State Office Building.
The House Veterans Affairs Division will not meet due to the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday.
The Senate Veterans and Military Affairs Finance and Policy committee is scheduled to meet on Thursday at 8:30am in Room 1100 of the Minnesota Senate Building.
On Tuesday, the Commanders' Task Force hosted a meet and greet with legislators. 34 members of the legislature stopped by to meet the leaders of Minnesota's largest Veterans Service Organizations. The commanders and adjutants shared the CTF agenda for the 2017 legislative session.
