Legislative Update – January 27, 2025

1/27/2025 8:00:00 AM

On Wednesday January 22nd the House Veterans and Military Affairs Division heard overviews of the Department of Veterans Affairs and Department of Military Affairs by House Non- Partisan Research Staff. The Committee also heard overviews of the Commanders Task Force (CTF) and Minnesota Association of County Veteran Service Officers (MACVSO).

In the House of Representatives there continues to be a disagreement about what constitutes a quorum to conduct business. To that end, the DFL caucus is denying a quorum. Republicans have continued to move ahead with organizing the business of the chamber. There is a case before the Minnesota Supreme Court on this issue. Oral arguments began this week. The court’s ruling and the special election for a Roseville-area seat will likely determine how the House moves forward over the next two years.
