Continuing a tradition of support that dates to 2014, the Boots on the Ground organization gave a generous donation to the Minnesota Veterans Home - Fergus Falls in April.
The $24,000 donation will provide the Home’s 80 Residents with in-Home salon haircuts, bingo game sponsorships, the Resident Arts Program, electric razors, and a new/installed Yamaha T50 hp motor for the Veterans Home pontoon. In addition, the funds will be used to purchase and store firearms off-site that will support future hunting trips for the Residents and to purchase video monitors that can allow Residents isolated in their rooms due to illness to participate virtually in on-site entertainment and activities.
“We are so happy for ‘Boots on the Ground’ continued support of our Veteran Residents and Veteran spouses and everything they have made happen due to their thoughtful generosity since 2014,” said Gary Harris, Jr., Public Affairs Coordinator at the Fergus Falls Veterans Home. “Their support continues to make big things happen for our Residents. For example, this new Yamaha T50 is a definite game-changer for our pontoon which hasn’t seen water time in several years due to a non-functioning motor. Our Residents love float trips and fishing outings at various lakes in our area. Our pontoon is also set up to accommodate Veterans in wheelchairs now, too.”
This generous donation will contribute to the quality of life for the Fergus Falls Veterans Home Residents.
Special thanks to the Boots on the Ground members who presented the donation: Steve Sampson, Lawrence Cawdrey, Candice Lestrud, Jamie Lanoue and John Carlson.
