/mdva/assets/2026-07-22-dav-donation_tcm1066-760463.jpegFergus Falls, Minn. – Local Veterans organizations continue their support of the Minnesota Veterans Homes - Fergus Falls and its Residents through generous donations.

For several years now, the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) Fergus Falls Chapter 25 has funded the cost of Wi-Fi and cable television at the Home, allowing the Residents to enjoy connections to the online world and expanded cable TV programming. The 2026 annual pledge of more than $31,000 was recently fulfilled with a final donation of more than $15,500.

The Chapter raises its funds to support gifts like this from deposits of clothing into large steel collection bins placed around the Fergus Falls community. Volunteers empty the bins weekly. Then the clothes are sorted and transferred to a large semi which transports the donated clothes each month to a regional buyer. The Fergus Falls DAV supports many other Veteran-related organizations in the area.

Wilkin County VFW Post 2766 donated $20,000 to support the start of a fundraising campaign for a new transport van for the Fergus Falls Veterans Home. The van will have room for several wheelchairs and a rear bench seat for non-wheelchair passengers. The Home’s current transport van is used daily to transport Residents to medical appointments locally, regionally and to the Fargo VA in North Dakota.

“We’re so grateful to both DAV Fergus Falls Chapter 25 and Wilkin County VFW Post 2766,” says Gary Harris, Director of Public Affairs and Development at the Fergus Falls Veterans Homes. “Time after time these groups step up to improve the lives of our Residents, other Veterans and their families.”
