Minnesota Veterans Home - Silver Bay partnering with Lake View Clinic for physician services

St. Paul, Minn. – Minnesota Veterans Home - Silver Bay is pleased to announce a new partnership with Lake View Clinic. Two experienced physicians affiliated with Lake View Clinic will be providing on-site medical service to Residents starting August 8.

Dr. Tom Peterson, MD, will be the main provider for MVH - Silver Bay. Dr. Peterson is board-certified in family medicine and has been at Lake View Clinic for 30 years. He has a connection to Veterans, both from a previous assignment covering the Silver Bay VA in 1992, and through his father who was a WWII Veteran. In his free time. Dr. Peterson enjoys plants and is an avid runner and skier.

Dr. Howard Josephs, MD, will fill in when Dr. Peterson is off. Dr. Josephs is also board-certified in family medicine and has been at Lake View Clinic for 28 years. Before beginning his career in medicine, Dr. Josephs was a plant and ship engineer. Dr. Josephs also had a father who was a World War II Veteran. He loves to be outside gardening and collects antique motors.

On-site physician coverage will be provided four to six hours, one day per week. The schedule for Nurse Practitioner Paula Chalupsky will remain the same. In addition, physician “on call” coverage will continue without change seven days a week.

The Minnesota Veterans Home - Silver Bay is honored to serve 83 Veterans as Residents of the home. They receive skilled nursing care that meets physical, social and spiritual needs in a Northwoods lodge-like environment overlooking beautiful Lake Superior. The home features four distinct neighborhoods, each with a living room, dining room and kitchen. Residents enjoy boating, fishing, hunting and gardening with the support an active group of volunteers and the great community.
