WHAT:

The Minnesota Department of Veterans Affairs and partners will hold a press conference to announce a major gift to the State Veterans Home project in Montevideo. James Williams, brother of the late Vietnam Veteran, Steven Williams, will join the MDVA and the City of Montevideo to announce details of the private donation. The press conference will be followed by interview opportunities with speakers, area lawmakers, community members and Veterans.

After the press conference, a planned community meeting will include a presentation from the Wold/Perkins/Eastman Architectural Firm highlighting the preliminary design concepts for the Minnesota Veterans Home in Montevideo. The proposed Veterans Home in Montevideo is located on a 13.5 acre site at the intersection of William Avenue and County Road 15.

Minnesota has five State Veterans Homes in operation, with three future homes currently in the planning stages. In addition to Montevideo, future State Veterans Homes are planned for Bemidji and Preston.
