WHAT :    

The first Residents of the Minnesota Veterans Homes - Bemidji begin their big move into the new facility!

WHEN :    

Tuesday, Feb.13
8:30 a.m.

WHO :    

Residents, family members, and Minnesota Department of Veterans Affairs team members will all be on hand as Veterans move into their new home.

WHERE:    

920 Anne Street N.W., Bemidji, MN

INTERVIEW OPPORTUNITIES:

  • Dancer, karaoke singer, and world-traveler Jim Larson – who retired from the Air Force in 1974 after 20 years of service – will be the very first Resident at the Bemidji Home. Hear his story!
  • Residents and families moving in.
  • Tour the Northwoods-themed, skilled nursing facility and see the amenities.
  • Speak with representatives from MDVA about what this building means to the community.
  • Opportunities to give back to this community by working, volunteering, or donating to support the Home.

FUN FACTS:

  • Along with the Veterans Homes in Preston and Montevideo, the Bemidji Home is the first Minnesota Veterans Home to open in the state in more than 25 years.
  • No other state has ever opened three homes in a span of six weeks!
  • From conception to planning to move-in day, the community has come together to bring this much-needed home to Bemidji.
  • A Dedication Ceremony is planned for the summer to celebrate decades of preparation and hard work coming to fruition to serve Veterans in Northern Minnesota.
