WHAT:     The media is invited to attend a ribbon cutting and grand opening ceremony of Building 21 at the Minneapolis Veterans Home on Monday, March 7 at 10 a.m. The ceremony will honor Residents and families, and marks completion of the second phase of a three-phase project to modernize and update the Minneapolis Veterans Home campus. The updates incorporate the industry standard of Resident-centered care and private rooms and bathrooms.

With four levels, Building 21 includes just over 155,000 square feet, including three Resident levels and a lower level. The main three floors will house a state-of-the-art 100 bed skilled nursing facility in private rooms for individualized care, as well as provide common spaces for visiting and community activities.
The ribbon cutting and grand opening ceremony will feature a patriotic program including the VFW State Color Guard, with remarks by members of the Veterans community and state and federal leaders. Special music will be provided by the Lake String Quartet, and refreshments and tours of the new space will follow the formal program. Residents are scheduled to move into the new building in late March.
