State of Minnesota Veterans Day Celebration

WHAT: The official State of Minnesota Veterans Day Program is scheduled for 10 a.m. Wednesday, November 11 at the Veterans Memorial Community Center in Inver Grove Heights. The Minnesota Department of Veterans Affairs, and the Minnesota Commanders' Task Force invite Veterans, families, elected officials, and community members to celebrate and honor all Veterans who have served this country with bravery. WCCO will have the More Than Names Flag on display recognizing support for military members and their families. American Red Cross will be distributing holiday cards to Veterans at the event, as well as asking for signatures on cards being sent to active military personnel through the Holiday Mail for Heroes program. Also new this year, two 5th grade students from Inver Grove Heights will read their winning essays on Veterans during the program. This year the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs selected the Minnesota State Veterans Day Program as an official regional site for 2015. The morning will feature a free community breakfast from 8:30 - 9:30 a.m.
