Tolling of the Boats: Pearl Harbor Edition

12/7/2016 1:00:00 PM

Following the Pearl Harbor 75th Anniversary Event "Tolling of the Boats: Pearl Harbor Edition" will take place at 1 p.m. in the 3M Auditorium of the Minnesota Historical Society.

This event honors our WWII Veterans and the memories of over 4,000 submariners lost in the line of duty and in a formal public ceremony to recognize their service.  Submarine activities surrounding the bombing of Pearl Harbor and the start of WWII will also be highlighted.

Service in Submarines is an inherently dangerous business, and since the founding of the US Submarine force in 1900, Sixty-five submarines and over 4,000 men have given up their lives.  The great majority of these young lives were lost during WWII when fifty-two submarines were lost.

It is the duty of the members of United States Submarine Veterans to publicly honor them so that their gallant service and sacrifice is never forgotten.

The general public, and especially WWII Vets are invited to join in honoring these fallen heroes of the U.S. Submarine force.
