/mdva/assets/2024-10-14-duluth-01-full_tcm1066-649613.pngMinnesota loses 100 Veterans a year to suicide. Veterans, advocates, supporters and community leaders came together Saturday, Oct. 5 to recognize this tragedy on the 6th annual Minnesota Veteran Suicide Prevention and Awareness Day.
Sharing their personal stories were Roger Reinert, Duluth Mayor; Shelly Hanson, mother to a Veteran who died by suicide and founder of The Armadillo Project; and Jeff Pinger, 148th Airlift Wing CMSgt and mentor to a young airman who died by suicide. They and others in attendance are committed to ending this tragedy.
“Over the weekend, I continued to receive positive remarks from attendees at the Depot Event!” said Eric Meittunen, MDVA Deputy Commissioner - Veterans Healthcare. “The speakers, venue, beverages/pastries, and fellowship were so meaningful!”
