The Minnesota Department of Veteran Affairs (MDVA) distributes funds raised by the sale of SOT license plates to numerous organizations that support Minnesota Veterans and their families. Learn more about the SOT grant program on /mdva/resources/federalresources/grants/index.jspour website.

Every Third Saturday (ETS) was awarded a $50,000 SOT grant to provide case management assistance to Veterans and their families who were either currently in crisis or who had made recent positive changes in their life, such as exiting homelessness, or completing a mental health or a substance abuse program.

ETS Veteran Story
“One of the most impactful ways ETS was able to utilize grant funds was in the case of a Veteran named Carl. Carl was working his way through Veteran’s Court and finishing his bachelor’s degree. Unfortunately, his marriage was very rocky and the constant fighting with his wife was causing him to miss court-appointed meetings and preventing him from completing his final paper for his degree.

“ETS was able to use SOT grant funds to provide Carl a hotel room for a week where he was able to get back on track with Vet’s Court and complete his final paper.

“Carl ended up graduating both Veteran’s Court and college and is successfully and gainfully employed.”
