On Friday, August 23, the Minnesota Veterans Home – Minneapolis hosted their 7th annual State Fair event for Residents, their families and community members. The sunny afternoon gave Residents a chance to experience the “Great MVH Get Together” outside with their loved ones.
Centered around the Building Community Room, Atrium, and Building 19 Courtyard, staff manned multiple food booths and activity stations to emulate the actual MN State Fair happening in St. Paul. Residents had their pick of classic MN State Fair staples such as freshly baked chocolate chip cookies, porkchops-on-a-stick, mini-donuts and grilled corn.
Residents tapped their feet and danced to live music from Pan-handler’s Steel Drum Band. Minnow races, balloon animals and face painting also provided entertainment.
In one of the most popular aspects of the event, Residents enjoyed interacting with animals in a petting zoo located at the front of the Home which included a llama, donkey, rabbits and chicks.
The State Fair event comes after the Home’s Branch of Service Recognition week, which provided Residents with many fun-filled events and services.
