Minnesota’s Oldest Veteran to Raise Flag at Twins Game

2016-06-27-georgeSunday, July 3, 2016, the Minnesota Twins will be hosting their annual Armed Forces Appreciation Day in support of the military and to celebrate Independence Day.

To make this day extra special George Vandersluis, one of Minnesota’s oldest Veteran—his 100th birthday was this past May, will be raising the flag at the opening ceremony. Vandersluis joined the United States Marine Corps and served during World War II. Vandersluis was stationed in Pearl Harbor when it was attacked and later served at the battle of Iwo Jima.

The game is scheduled to start at 1:10 and George, along with members of the 934th Air Wing Unit will be on hand to be recognized for their service to this country and to help the Twins celebrate the Fourth.
