If you haven't had the opportunity to listen to the Minnesota Military Radio show yet, I encourage you to do so! Starting out by broadcasting on one station, Tom Lyons, show host and creator, has steadily built a statewide network of stations across Minnesota. Tom brings in guests and 'subject matter experts' to talk about all things Veteran. Recently Tom was at the County Veterans Service Officers statewide conference to tape the show. And, as the entrepreneur that he is, he encourages those who don't have the show aired in their area to contact local stations to see if they would like to do so. There is no cost to air the show and, yes, they can insert local advertising to compensate for the 'air time.' Check with your CVSO or local station to determine interest and visit the show's website. Also - be sure to listen to a special live recording of Minnesota Military Radio on Veterans Day live from the State ceremony in Inver Grove Heights on Twin Cities News/Talk AM 1130.
Speaking of Veterans Day, The Minnesota Department of Veterans Affairs and the Minnesota Commanders' Task Force invite you to attend the official State of Minnesota Veterans Day Program that will take place on Monday, November 11, 2013 at the Veterans Memorial Community Center in Inver Grove Heights, Minnesota.
For the past eight years our Department has co-hosted this ceremony jointly with the Commanders' Task Force. During this time, the ceremony has grown to become a state focal point of recognition and honor. This year we have again been designated as the official Regional Observance site for Veterans Day by the VA. As part of the event, to recognize and thank our Veterans community, a free breakfast will again be offered between 8:30 - 9:30 a.m., with a formal program from 10 - 11 a.m. MDVA is compiling a list of Veterans Day events around the state. Community organizers statewide are encouraged to submit event information to MDVA to be included on MDVA's Blog, website, social media, and distributed to media throughout Minnesota. Click here to submit your community event online. Veterans Day is a time to remember the service and sacrifice of all Veterans. I have always felt it important to be there to honor and support my fellow Veterans and military.
For more information on upcoming Veterans Day events visit our website at MinnesotaVeteran.org and while you're there, take a short survey and let us know what you think of our new website (survey now closed).
Thank you for all that you do in supporting of our nation's Veterans. Be safe!
