Family Council

The Minnesota Veterans Home Family Council for the Fergus Falls facility provides a formal vehicle for communication and information sharing between administration, family members, staff, Residents, and family friends. It provides a forum for these families and friends to discuss common concerns, share ideas, provide support, and impact both facility program and direction in a mutually supportive and beneficial manner for all members. This is accomplished via monthly meetings with Family Council members, followed by monthly meetings that involve Family Council Officers and the Minnesota Veterans Home Administration.

About the Family Council

The Family Council shares ideas, information, and concerns by:

• Developing projects aimed at improving the quality of life, well-being, and happiness of their loved one, as well as all Residents of the Veterans Home
• Providing input on Veterans Home decisions
• Safeguarding consumer and Resident rights
• Opening channels of communication between Residents, families, Veterans Home staff and the administration, as well as the community
• Establishing an orientation package about the Family Council for new Residents
• Providing information and support to families of past, current, and prospective Residents
• Promoting goodwill and fellowship among members

Fergus Falls Activity Calendar

Quality of care is foremost at the Fergus Falls Veterans Home, and our Residents are our primary focus. Through this calendar of diverse activities, we strive to help our Residents maintain the greatest possible independence in their lives.

Our Residents are treated to a wide variety of recreation activities and events, both within the facility and out in the community. By providing this detailed schedule, we encourage family and friends to participate as much as possible in the activities at Fergus Falls Veterans Home.

Dietary Menu

The dietary menu at our Fergus Falls Home has been developed by registered dietitians. Our menu provides Residents with a balanced, nutritious meal. Just like at home, different menu options are available to accommodate the needs of our Residents.
