Members of the U.S. Armed Forces volunteer to serve our country and protect the freedoms we hold dear. They endure extreme hardships, leave their families and sometimes make the ultimate sacrifice. If they're willing to do all this, shouldn't we be willing to show our support?
The Minnesota "Support Our Troops" license plates are a way to show support for Minnesota service members, Veterans, and their families. This support is given back to the military members through the Minnesota Department of Veterans Affairs and the Minnesota Department of Military Affairs. These organizations use the minimal annual contribution of $30 to assist in the bettering of Veterans and military families and homeless or underserved Veterans around the state. The donations help with programs like CORE, which provides family counseling services - also available for children, financial counseling, debt management, and mental health counseling. It also helps with financial assistance, grants, shelter, outreach to diverse communities and community seminars. Since it became available in 2005 more than 34,000 Minnesotans in all 86 counties have purchased and maintained plates.
