Gambling Manager Seminar
Each month, the Minnesota Gambling Control Board holds an in-person, two-day training seminar, primarily for new gambling managers. The course covers topics such as the conduct of gambling, maintaining inventory, managing gambling funds, internal controls, and reporting.
The second day concludes with an exam. Gambling Manager applicants must pass this exam to be licensed. Those not seeking a license (such as CEOs, sellers, or law enforcement) are welcome, but not required, to take the test.
The seminar is held once a month on a Wednesday and Thursday, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., at the Gambling Control Board office in Roseville. You must register in advance.
To find upcoming dates and register, contact your county’s Licensing Specialist. Seating is limited and sessions often fill quickly, so please reach out well in advance (usually months) of when you plan to attend.
Who must attend?
For a new organization:
- the current CEO (chief executive officer), and
- the person who will be the gambling manager.
For a currently licensed organization:
- All gambling manager changes require the applicant to attend the gambling manager seminar and pass the exam prior to licensure.
- For an emergency gambling manager change, training and passing the exam must be completed within 90 days of being issued a license.
