Alcohol and Gambling Enforcement: Citizen Academy

4/29/2025 3:17:44 PM

Have you ever wondered what the Alcohol and Gambling Enforcement (AGE) division does? Their Citizen Academy offers a behind-the-scenes look their important work.

You’ll get the chance to meet K-9 Bia, a German Shorthaired Pointer who can sniff out currency that criminals have hidden away. She has found money in places like under furniture, behind a wall-mounted TV, and underneath basement steps.

You’ll learn how AGE prevents bad actors from walking away with your cash from games like pull tabs, raffles and bingo. You’ll also hear how the enforcement of alcohol laws helps you enjoy a cold beer at your favorite bar.

The academy meets on Tuesdays between 5 and 7 p.m., running from May 13 through June 10. Classes will be held at the Spring Lake Park-Blaine-Mounds View (SBM) Fire Department. Applications are due by May 9.
