About the presenter

Laura Isenor

Laura Isenor, Staff Attorney with the Education Law Advocacy Project of Southern Minnesota Regional Legal Services (SMRLS), received her law degree from Hamline University School of Law in 2011. After graduating she spent the next decade working as a prosecutor handling adult criminal, juvenile delinquencies, and child protection cases. As a prosecutor, Laura worked hard to find solutions beyond the typical court system such as implementing several pre-charging diversion options for juvenile offenders in an effort to reduce the number of juveniles attending court hearings. In 2021, Laura had a baby who was diagnosed as DeafBlind, which led her to change roles and move over to the Education Law Advocacy Project. At the Education Law Advocacy Project, Laura helps low-income students struggling with their education in Southern Minnesota. Herevshe has filed due process complaints, attended special education meetings, and educated and empowered her clients.
