You are not alone with your hearing loss! You can get support from others who have been through what you are experiencing.
The Hearing Loss Association of America's mission is to open the world of communication to people with hearing loss by providing information, education, advocacy, and support. Local chapters offer regularly-scheduled meetings and programs, at which you'll find emotional support, camaraderie, tips, and techniques for living with hearing loss, and technical information about hearing assistive devices. The national and local chapters work on issues that affect people with hearing loss, including public policy, research, public awareness and service delivery for those with hearing loss.
There are also chapters in St. Cloud and the Red River Valley, but they do not have individual websites at this time. You can find their contact information by searching on the national organization's site.
The HLAA Twin Cities chapter also sponsors a social group that meets monthly for dinner at the home of a member, called ALOHA. All ages and hearing levels are welcome.
Two members of HLAA maintain personally-owned blogs, which covers updates on technology, communication, and advocacy. Please do check them out.
