Raffles Capped at $60

Some licensed organizations conduct raffles that award meat packages as prizes. In these cases, tickets are typically sold immediately before the raffle drawing, so players are usually present when winners are announced. Also, to ensure the meat packages are fresh, organizations often purchase the prizes just before the raffles are held (see the fourth bullet point below).

To accommodate this type of raffle, special provisions have been added to the standard raffle requirements. If the raffle's gross receipts are $60 or less, and all tickets are sold just prior to—and at the same location as—the drawing, then:

  • Players not required to enter contact information: Players may fill out their information on the ticket stub (name, address, phone number) but are not required to do so.
  • Use ticket stub number to identify winner: When a winning ticket stub contains no player information, the organization must announce the ticket number. The winner must then present the matching numbered ticket to claim the prize.
  • Contact option for absent players: If a player who did not complete the stub must leave before the drawing, they may write their contact information on the ticket and give it to another player. If the ticket wins, the organization may use that information to contact the winner and award the prize.
  • 30-day payment window: The organization has up to 30 days after purchasing merchandise prizes to pay for them. (For all other raffles, the organization must have paid for the prizes before they are awarded.)
