Compounding Update
In response to the IV shortage due to Hurricane Helene and Milton, the MN Board of Pharmacy is exercising temporary enforcement discretion to actively licensed pharmacies approved for sterile product compounding as long as the licensed pharmacy is able to meet the conditions set forth in the FDA’s Immediately-in-effect-guidance document: “Temporary Policies for Compounding Certain Parenteral Drug Productions.”
Before providing the drug product to the hospital or health system, a State-licensed pharmacy must notify the Minnesota Board of Pharmacy that they will follow the FDA’s guidance documents and cease once the shortage caused by the Hurricanes has been resolved and provide a list of pharmacies that will be involved.
