New Component

The Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP) is federally funded through the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) and U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), with additional support from the State of Minnesota. 

Weatherization Assistance enables income-qualified households to permanently reduce their energy bills by helping to make their homes more energy efficient while protecting the health and safety of family members. In Minnesota, Weatherization services are delivered by 22 Service Providers across the state.

Weatherization Assistance Program Policy Manual

The Minnesota Department of Commerce publishes the Minnesota Weatherization Assistance Program Policy Manual to guide Subgrantees in the implementation of the Weatherization Assistance Program. The Weatherization Policy Manual is updated twice annually on or around July 1 and January 1.

Service Provider Resources

The Commerce Energy Division offers training and technical assistance to service providers in the form of trainings, presentations, and other resources to improve program delivery.

State of Minnesota Pre-Weatherization and Workforce Training 

In 2023, the Minnesota State Legislature Minnesota authorized the Pre-Weatherization Program and the Weatherization Training Grant Program. For more information on this program, please see the Pre Weatherization and Workforce Training webpage.
