Jack Williams

Photographer

Jack Williams (he/him) is proudly Deaf, fluent in ASL, and comes from a fourth-generation Deaf family alongside his twin brother. Born and raised in Minnesota his entire life, Jack has always had strong connections within the Deaf community and values the importance of culture, language, family, and community support.

Jack has worked at Metro Deaf School for the past 18 years as the Student Life Coordinator, where he creates fun, engaging, and memorable programs for K–12 students. He has over 25 years of experience working with Deaf, Hard of Hearing, and DeafBlind youth. Before Metro Deaf School, Jack worked as a Program Director at Courage North, supporting campers with a wide range of disabilities, including autism, physical disabilities, burn survivors, and Deaf campers.

Jack also owns a small photography business and has been photographing seniors, families, and weddings for over 20 years. He enjoys capturing meaningful memories and helping people feel comfortable and confident in front of the camera.

Jack is a proud fourth-generation graduate of Minnesota State Academy for the Deaf.  After the graduated from HS, he attended, where he earned an Associate of Applied Science degree in Computer Art and Design and a Bachelor of Science degree in Applied Arts and Photography. During his time at RIT, he was very active on campus, serving as a Resident Advisor, participating in fraternity leadership, and being involved with the NTID Student Congress. He also worked as a student ambassador and traveled to Japan multiple times to collaborate with Deaf students.

Outside of work, Jack enjoys traveling, cooking for family and friends, gardening vegetables, fruits, and flowers, camping, hiking, and spending time with his family — especially his 12 nieces and nephews.  Family and friends often describe Jack as a “Jack of all trades” because he enjoys learning new skills, being creative, solving problems, and helping wherever he is needed.

“Serving on the Commission as a photographer and community advocate would mean a great deal to me. I want to help capture and share the stories, strength, resilience, culture, and beauty of Minnesota’s Deaf, Hard of Hearing, and DeafBlind communities. Our community is filled with incredible people, and I hope my work can help show others across the country how vibrant, talented, and inspiring our Minnesota community truly is.” ~ Jack Williams
