Resources for Food Sector Employers

It’s critically important that food is produced and sold in a safe manner, and that Minnesota’s employers in the food and agriculture sectors have the resources they need to be healthy and productive. In addition to these resources, the Minnesota Department of Agriculture includes guidance on it’s website.

For Producers, Manufacturers, and Distributors

  • Food to donate?  If you are a food producer, manufacturer, or distributor with food you would like to donate or offer to hunger relief organizations for a reduced cost, please provide your contact information through this online form. A state representative will follow-up with you directly to connect you to organizations in need.
  • Coronavirus Food Assistance Program (CFAP) USDA will partner with regional and local distributors to purchase $3 billion in fresh produce, dairy, and meat through the Farmers to Families Food Box Program. USDA plans to procure an estimated $100 million per month in fresh fruits and vegetables, $100 million per month in a variety of dairy products, and $100 million per month in meat products. The distributors and wholesalers will then provide a pre-approved box of fresh produce, dairy, and meat products to food banks, tribes, community and faith-based organizations, and other non-profits serving Americans in need. If you’re interested in participating, view this guidance document for additional information and resources.
