Investigation of Air Source Heat Pumps as a Replacement of Central Air Conditioning

Results from CARD study which evaluated dual fuel (or hybrid heat) applications, in which an air source heat pump (ASHP) is paired with a natural gas furnace to mitigate the higher operating costs of all-electric ASHP systems. This study included 438 customer surveys and interviews with 30 contractors, 3 distributors, and 5 manufacturers to understand the existing and potential market for this application.
