Solar & Wind

Solar and wind are abundant resources for renewable energy for Minnesota as we transition from reliance on fossil fuels.

Solar and wind energy represent reliable, affordable, clean energy resources that are homegrown energy produced entirely in Minnesota. In contrast, our state does not mine coal or drill oil, the resources used to produce fossil fuels. Reducing Minnesota’s reliance on fossil fuels reduces the cost volatility of fossil fuel, which is priced based on international markets.

By increasing production of solar and wind energy, Minnesota can make progress towards the goals laid out in the state’s Climate Action Framework. The Framework lays out a positive vision with action steps to help Minnesota address and prepare for climate change.
