The Minnesota Department of Commerce was directed by the Legislature to contract with the Great Plains Institute (GPI) to conduct a study to inform policymakers about the potential impact of new nuclear generation on the public interest of Minnesota, including affordability, reliability, environmental protection, and public health. The study was authorized by the Minnesota Legislature in 2026. [Laws of Minn. 2026, ch. 128, art. 8, sec. 11.]
The study will examine topics identified by the Legislature and will reflect a balanced representation of perspectives.
