Open Enrollment for 2018 begins today

10/26/2017 9:31:30 AM

Here’s a question: When was the last time you reviewed your insurance benefits? For some people it may be a long time, so long you forget exactly what your benefits include. For others, it might be last week. Well, no matter when you last took a moment to look over your benefits, today is the perfect time to log into Self Service and make you sure your elections best meet your current needs.

Why?

Today is the first day of Open Enrollment for 2018! That means you have the once-a-year opportunity to check out available benefits and plans and select those that make the most sense for you and your family. Employees have through November 8 to make benefit elections for next year. Log in to Self Service to make changes.

5 things to know about Open Enrollment

  1. Your 2017 insurance elections (medical coverage and carrier, dental coverage and carrier, etc.) will continue in 2018 if you do nothing.
  2. Be sure to check the cost level of your primary care clinic. It may have changed, and it may be available at lower cost through a different medical carrier. This information will also help you estimate your potential out-of-pocket responsibility in 2018.
  3. Pre-tax accounts require enrollment each year.
  4. Dental coverage is open this year (and won’t be open next year).
  5. Short-term disability and supplemental life are open this year (and won’t be open again for several years).
