This study sought to determine market barriers to implementing retrofit technologies available for packaged rooftop units (RTUs) and determine ways to overcome them. A packaged RTU is an HVAC system that provides heating and cooling equipment packaged in a single box to fully condition a space. These systems are found on a wide variety of building types throughout Minnesota, including office, retail, industrial, and other various commercial buildings. RTU retrofit technologies have demonstrated the potential to offer energy savings for a significant portion of existing RTUs throughout Minnesota.
