MetLife will replace The Hartford/Ochs. 

Only the disability insurance vendor is changing. The benefit, enrollment, and eligibility rules remain as they are now. Life insurance coverage remains with Securian.

Here’s what this change means for you:

• From now through the end of 2024, you will work with The Hartford/Ochs. If you start a disability claim on or before Dec. 31, 2024 you will stay with The Hartford even after MetLife begins its work with SEGIP.
• If you need to use your disability benefit on or after Jan. 1, 2025 you will contact MetLife.
• Contact your HR office if you have already scheduled a leave to start in early 2025 and have been working with The Hartford. You may also find information in this document.

Starting Jan. 1, 2025

To use your benefit, register as a State of Minnesota employee on MetLife's website.
