The first statewide well-being challenge of the year launches Feb. 28. Sign up now and work toward your reward. This challenge is worth 100 points and gets you on your way to earning the 300 points needed to get $70 off your (employee-only) deductible next year.* 

Your challenge is mindfulness. Mindfulness is about slowing down and paying attention. It’s being aware of where you are and what you’re doing so you don’t overreact or get overwhelmed by what’s happening around you. Mindfulness can be:

  • Deep breathing
  • Gratitude lists
  • Stillness/meditation
  • Journaling
  • Stretching/yoga
  • Mindful eating
  • Relaxing hobbies
  • Mindful walking

Top of Mindfulness Challenge 

February 28 to March 27 

Step 1. Log in or create your Virgin Pulse account and follow the prompts
Step 2. Set a Mindfulness Goal
Step 3. Track your minutes to earn points

Track your minutes on your own. To earn points, you need to reach your total minutes by the end of the 28-day challenge. You log into Virgin Pulse and log minutes. (Challenge reporting is not Yes/No as in the past.)

What’s different this year?

  • You set your own goal
  • You pick the activity
  • You log minutes toward your personal goal
  • To earn points, you need to reach your total minutes for the month

Get motivated! 

Encourage your coworkers to sign up for it as well and share your success. You’ll also get reminders from Virgin Pulse throughout the challenge.

Resources to help you earn points

  • Participants can sync seamlessly to Whil on Virgin Pulse for validated measurements toward their goal. If you complete the Whil program (10 sessions in a month), you can earn an additional 50 points. Sessions are about 12 minutes long
  • Reducing Stress Journeys® on Virgin Pulse are daily self-guided courses to help you build healthy habits
  • Use LifeMatters through the Employee Assistance Program for mindfulness tips that include webinars, podcasts and mindfulness program

*If you earn 300 points by Oct. 31, 2022 you save $70 on your 2023 individual medical care deductible. All benefit-eligible state employees can take part in the well-being program, yet only employees enrolled in the Minnesota Advantage health plan are eligible for $70 savings.
