Attend the 2024 Explore Minnesota Tourism Conference Virtually

Join us virtually on Tuesday, Feb. 27, starting at 9 a.m., for a day filled with education and professional development for our tourism industry partners.

The first Conference Keynote kicks off at 9 a.m., virtual attendees can stream all four keynote presentations through the conference virtual portal to access the video feed, agenda, and other reference material.

Check-out the Minnesota Association of Convention and Visitors Bureaus (MACVB) online auction which opens at 8 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 26 and wraps up at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 27. Create an account and bid online. Pay for your items online and make arrangements with to have items sent to you.

Join Madison Magazine CO-OP By March 15

Madison Magazine tells diverse stories in ways that inform, inspire, and entertain. Many of the magazine's state and national awards demonstrate a high standard of excellence in storytelling, photography, and design.

Explore Minnesota is teaming up with Madison Magazine to create an eight-page special section in the May 2024 issue, as well as online at and, promoting Minnesota tourism to Madisonians. You have the chance to be a part of the section via full, half or quarter-page ads that will be featured within custom content written by Madison Magazine's M Studio.

January 2024 Accommodations Performance Summary

According to STR and AirDNA lodging performance metrics January 2024 was not a strong month across the state of Minnesota or in the Minneapolis-Saint Paul metro area.

At the state-level January 2024 hotel occupancy decreased 7% year over year (YoY) to 40.4%, average daily rate (ADR) increased 1.9% YoY to $115.72 and revenue per available room (RevPAR) decreased 5.2% YoY to $46.74.  For reference in January 2024 the total U.S. average occupancy was 51.9%, ADR was $146.33 and RevPAR was $75.99.

For the Minneapolis-Saint Paul area, January 2024 hotel occupancy was down 6.2% YoY to 40.7%, ADR was up .4% YoY to $116.15 and RevPAR was down YoY 5.8% to $47.30. In January 2024 the average Top U.S. 25 U.S. Market hotel occupancy was 60.1%, ADR was $174.62 and RevPAR was $104.86.

In January 2024 key Minnesota short-term rental performance metrics decreased relative to 2023.  For entire place rentals occupancy decreased 14% to 35.2%, ADR decreased .9% to $260.13 and RevPAR decreased 14.7% to $91.58.

EMT Express, Explore Minnesota's weekly industry e-newsletter is changing its name to Industry News and will officially launch on Monday, March 4.

This newsletter contains timely information on Explore Minnesota, tourism and hospitality news, meetings, conferences, webinars, advertising and marketing opportunities, and other tourism industry-related information. 

Industry News will continue to provide news and tips for the people who market Minnesota tourism.

Destination marketing organizations are invited to schedule a presentation about what's new and newsworthy in their destination to Explore Minnesota staff.

Travel counselors, marketing, communications, and additional Explore Minnesota staff will attend the virtual destination update and keep your information top of mind for upcoming opportunities. Things to share include new destination developments, events, business and attraction updates and other newsworthy information. 

Destination updates are held virtually the second Thursday of the month at 1:30 and 2 p.m. with 15 minutes for your PowerPoint or other visual presentation and 10 minutes for an open dialogue and question and answer session.

Registration Open for Minnesota Festivals and Events Association Annual Conference

The 2024 Minnesota Festivals and Events Association Annual Conference will be held March 20 to 22 at the DoubleTree by Hilton St. Louis Park.

This conference will be packed with educational sessions that address current and future challenges in the events industry, as well as business fundamentals and exciting up-and-coming trends.

Save the Dates for 2024 National Travel and Tourism Week

U.S. Travel announced that National Travel and Tourism Week (NTTW) will be celebrated May 19-25, 2024. Note, the dates were shifted due to a conflict with U.S. Travel's IPW event.

In 2022, travel spending generated $2.6 trillion in economic output and supported nearly 15 million American jobs. Join U.S. Travel Association for the 41st annual #nttw, a critical opportunity to underscore the importance of the industry to the American economy and beyond.
