Explore Minnesota Tourism Awards
The Explore Minnesota Tourism Awards celebrate the outstanding people, marketing and initiatives that help to make Minnesota a premier travel destination.
To be considered for an award, a form must be filled out for each nominee. Please share applicable specific details such as examples, goals, results, ROI, accomplishments, etc. Supporting documentation is encouraged and will help the Explore Minnesota Awards Committee score each submission.
The eligibility period for each award is July 1, 2020 – Nov. 30, 2021.
The following awards will be presented (live and virtually) during the 2022 Explore Minnesota Tourism Conference at the Sheraton Minneapolis West in Minnetonka on Tuesday, March 1, 2022:
- ONLY IN MN Award
Recognizing an iconic business, attraction or event, which has become synonymous with a community or the state; exemplifying the spirit of "Only in Minnesota."
- Tourism Recovery Campaign of the Year
Campaign/initiative directed toward bringing tourism back to Minnesota as the navigation through the COVID-19 pandemic continues.
- Marketing Campaign of the Year - DMO
Outstanding marketing, social, web or special project executed by a destination marketing organization, enhancing overall visibility of a community and directly impacting visitor travel to the area.
- Marketing Campaign of the Year - Business
Outstanding marketing, social, web or special project executed by an individual business, enhancing overall visibility of a business/community and directly impacting visitor travel to the area.
- Emerging Leader Award
This award recognizes an individual who has joined Minnesota's tourism industry within the last five years and has exhibited the skills and abilities to excel in the tourism industry, is mindful of their role in making the state a better place to visit and is passionate about promoting travel and tourism in Minnesota.
- Customer Service Award
Presented to an individual who is on the front lines of the tourism and hospitality industry, providing direct service and communication with guests of Minnesota. This person may be a volunteer, employee or owner/operator of a tourism-related business.
- Tourism Professional of the Year
Presented to an individual who has actively worked to advance tourism, conducting statewide programs that enhance, underwrite and promote the tourism industry in Minnesota. This person may be a volunteer, employee or owner/operator of a tourism-related business. Special consideration will be given to level of achievements, time period of involvement and overall contributions to the state's image and/or tourism industry.
