happy new year

You may have new goals or resolutions you hope to achieve in 2020. Resolutions that are health-related are common, perhaps because your health can also impact your work and overall satisfaction. Here are a few steps you can take to help make this year the best one yet.

  • Attend a lunchtime wellbeing webinar. Focusing on your health can help you have fewer sick days and be more productive. To help support your health and wellbeing, we offer free lunchtime online webinars on a range of topics, from building resilience to establishing work-life balance. Check out some of the upcoming sessions. Consider inviting colleagues to attend the webinar with you.
  • Avoid extra costs by verifying your 2020 benefit selections. With your new benefits in place for 2020, verify your benefits are set for the year to avoid out-of-pocket costs. This includes double checking your primary care clinic’s cost level, or confirming new dependents have successfully been added to your coverage.
  • Reduce your global footprint. Improve your health and reduce your global footprint by going green. A few healthy habits include using a reusable water bottle or coffee mug, eating meat less often, and biking or walking into work. To help eliminate paper use, consider projecting meeting notes or sign up to get your tax documents electronically in Self Service.
  • Ensure your financial health. Create a plan for your short and long-term financial health. You can receive free financial counseling through our Employee Assistance Program, in addition to other consultation services. The program can also assist with financial planning and investment consultation at the low rate of $35 an hour.
  • Establish standing or walking meetings. Researchers say sitting is the new smoking. If you’re able and it makes sense, consider hosting standing or walking meetings. As a bonus, the movement can also help boost your energy level so you’re ready to take on what’s next.

Whatever resolutions you choose, have a happy and healthy New Year!
