We offer interactive virtual classes and programs to support the training and development needs of all State employees. We update our website with new, virtual training events as they are developed and ready to launch. Business Writing Essentials

This 4-hour course is your key to unlocking the secrets of impactful business writing. (Virtual Interactive Class)

Holding Difficult Conversations

What if you had a difficult discussion with someone and instead of getting a defensive response, they thanked you? By beginning with the end in mind, you will learn how to reverse engineer difficult conversations into simple, straightforward discussions that get results. (Virtual Interactive Class)

Communicating Strategically

The techniques and strategies presented in this virtual course will help you be more effective when engaging with the public, members of your own agency or department, and members of other agencies and departments. (Virtual Interactive Class)

Strategic Effectiveness for Aspiring Leaders (SEAL)

Strategic Effectiveness for Aspiring Leaders, also known as SEAL, is ideal for state employees in non-management roles that aspire to become leaders in state government and wish to build skills that will move them towards this goal. (Virtual Interactive Class)
Course Dates: June 6, 13, 18, 20, and 27, 2024. All dates listed, except June 18, will be from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. June 18 will be from 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. | Cost: $935 - FULL

Project Management Fundamentals

In this course, you'll receive hands-on experience in learning, applying, practicing, and developing fundamental project management skills. (Virtual Interactive Class)
Course Dates: June 11 and 12, 2024, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. both days | Cost: $625 - FULL

Implicit Bias Training

This course defines implicit bias and uses media examples to illustrate how implicit bias shows up in places we may not expect. (Virtual Interactive Class)

Successful Onboarding Strategies

In this interactive course, you will gain knowledge and skills around successful onboarding processes, structure, and tools to directly support onboarding your new staff. (Virtual Interactive Class)

Retirement Seminars

Prepare yourself for retirement, whether that time is rapidly approaching or more than five years down the road. ETD offers two retirement seminars that cover important topics to help you prepare for the next chapter of your life.

Retirement Seminars

Retirement seminars are currently being delivered via virtual classroom.

Pre-Planning for Retirement Seminar

The Pre-Planning for Retirement Seminar is for state employees who have more than five years until retirement. This online live seminar is one and a half (1.5) days with presenters that have expertise on pension and social security benefits, health care savings plan, estate planning, life and disability insurance, and more. (Based on demand, seminars will be added as needed.) PLEASE NOTE: DOC employees should check with their fiscal department before enrolling in either of these retirement seminars.

The State Retirement Seminar

The State Retirement Seminar is for state employees who are planning to retire in five years or less. This online live seminar is two (2) full days with speakers and expertise on pension and social security benefits, health care savings plan, state insurance benefits, estate planning, and more. (Based on demand, seminars will be added as needed.) PLEASE NOTE: DOC employees should check with their fiscal department before enrolling in either of these retirement seminars.
Dates: May 22, 2024, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and May 23, 2024, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. | Cost: $125


Core Development

Increase your effectiveness as a supervisor, manager or HR professional by learning more about your role and the state specific policies and practices that impact it.

  • Supervisors and managers: Develop related leadership skill sets through exploring topics such as increasing employee engagement, performance management, onboarding, and leading change. Expand awareness of your own personal communication and leadership styles.
  • HR professionals: Increase your understanding of HR fundamentals in state government and gain new skills in areas such as DEAI, emotional intelligence and navigating the future of HR.

Supervisor Core

Virtual delivery format for Supervisor Core is set up as 13 half day sessions, each day is delivered from 8:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. | Cost: $895
Course Dates: FY25: September 17, 18, 19, 24, 25, 26, 27, October 15, 16, 22, 23, 24, and 25, 2024 (Note: Any upcoming sessions of this course offered prior to these dates are full.)

Manager Core

Virtual delivery format for Manager Core is set up as 10 half day sessions, each day is delivered from 8:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. | Cost: $895
Course Dates: FY25: August 13, 14, 15, 16, 20, 21, 22, September 10, 11, and 12, 2024 (Note: Any upcoming sessions of this course offered prior to these dates are full.)

Human Resource Core

Virtual delivery format for Human Resource Core is set up as 7 half day sessions, each day is delivered from 8:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. | Cost: $100
Course Dates: FY25: October 1, 2, 3, 4, 8, 9, and 10, 2024.

Leadership Development

Cultivate your leadership to provide improved communication throughout your team. Increase team efficiency through action planning, self-assessment, redirecting and reinforcing feedback. You can also develop your leadership skills by enrolling or applying for our leadership development programs.

Emerging Leaders Institute (ELI)

The ELI Program for 2023-2024 is about to begin with Cohorts 31, 32, and 33. If you are interested in future participation in the ELI Program, the application process will begin anew in Spring of 2024. Check this site for updates. Senior Leaders Institute (SLI)

The SLI Program for 2023 is about to begin with Cohort 13. If you are interested in future participation in the SLI Program, the application process will begin anew in Spring of 2024. Ask your HR and Training Directors to keep you posted on what actions you need to take.
