How to prepare for the transition to CVS Caremark, SEGIP’s new pharmacy benefit manager

11/22/2017 1:36:47 PM

SEGIP recently announced that CVS Caremark will manage the prescription drug benefit for members next year. Here is some information on the upcoming change.

  • You do not have to use a CVS pharmacy. You may use any in-network pharmacy. Click here to use the CVS Caremark pharmacy locator tool to search for one near you.
  • You can easily check the cost and coverage for your medications through CVS Caremark using the online Check Drug Cost tool. Advantage Health Plan members click here and members enrolled in the High Deductible Plan should click here.
  • CVS Caremark will mail out a Welcome Packet including member information and member prescription drug cards toward the end of December.
  • In addition to the Welcome Packet, you will receive a separate letter from CVS Caremark outlining the transition and explaining your options if you are currently:
    • Taking a drug that is not on the drug formulary,
    • Taking a specialty medication,
    • Using the mail order service; or,
    • Filling prescriptions that had an existing prior-authorization.
  • Also toward the end of December, you will be able to access CVS Caremark member registration services on the CVS Caremark website.
  • CVS Caremark Customer Care phone lines are available to answer your questions prior to the January 1, 2018 transition. You can contact CVS Caremark by calling 1-844-345-3234.
  • Effective January 1, 2018, begin using your CVS Caremark prescription drug card.
Please contact SEGIP at 651-355-0100 if you have questions.
