December 15 update: Blue Cross and Fairview recently announced agreement on a new contract, meaning Blue Cross members will continue to have access to Fairview providers in 2017. Because the situation is now resolved, SEGIP is no longer accepting carrier change forms.
-----
This week, SEGIP members who receive care at Fairview Health Systems will be receiving a letter in the mail from BlueCross BlueShield of Minnesota. The letter says that the BlueCross contract with Fairview expires on Dec. 31, 2016 if BlueCross and Fairview do not reach a new contract agreement by then.
What does this mean?
If BlueCross and Fairview do not have a contract in place, care from Fairview will not be covered for SEGIP members who are enrolled with BlueCross. If the two sides do agree to a new contract for 2017, care from Fairview clinics will be covered at Cost Level 2 for SEGIP members in 2017.
Does this impact me?
This only impacts SEGIP members who get care from Fairview Health Services and are covered through BlueCross BlueShield of Minnesota.
What do I need to do?
If you get care from Fairview and are covered through BlueCross, you have three options:
Do I need to do anything now?
You have until December 30 switch to PreferredOne if you wish to do so. This allows to you wait and see if BlueCross arrives at an agreement with Fairview prior to December 30.
How do I make changes if I wish to do so?
